Practicalities

These short surveys have been designed specifically as follow-up surveys to an area we identified in 2018 as being significant with our Ancient StoryLines theme.

Though only 5 days, each survey will visit a different area where our Wangkangurru advisor feels there may be strong evidence of significant cultural importance. It is suspected that this area is part of the thoroughfare for people coming from the Warburton River in the south to the mikiri further north and onwards towards the pitjuri fields in the north of the desert.

We visited adjoining areas in 2018, but have not documented this specific area before, so these surveys are an important part of the Songlines & Shared Journeys transect.

Although only 5 days of trekking, the data collected from these surveys will be an important addition to the preceding Munga-Thirri Central Expedition and the following Kangkuwulunhna East Survey.
