Australian
Desert Expeditions is a Registered Environmental Organisation conducting
scientific and ecological survey expeditions into remote regions of the Central deserts.
Walking alongside traditionally outfitted packcamels is ideal for learning about the
desert flora & fauna as we continue the historical spirit and cultural heritage of
scientific desert exploration of the 19th and 20th Centuries.
You can join any expedition
and assist the ecologists with their fieldwork, which
may include collecting and documenting botanical specimens, assisting with marsupial
trapping surveys or anthropological/archaeological/palaeontological recovery, all whilst
travelling in the grand tradition of the early explorers and pioneering Afghan cameleers.
Our 2011 Survey
Program was conducted in partnership with Bush
Heritage Australia in the north eastern Simpson Desert, Queensland. We have left the
2011 program on our website as an example of what may be expected in
2013.
