Practicalities

As with the preceding White Lakes Expedition, we will be spending the first days of this survey visiting the numerous small salt lakes that lie to the east of the K1 Line, before venturing east into an area that is largely dominated by towering dunes and sparse swales. The country here is morphing from the classic red dunes of the central Simpson into the paler white sands that are characteristic of the southern desert around the salt lakes.

We have not documented this area before, so this survey is an important part of Project 138. We will need every one of the 16 days to explore this huge area as we gradually work in an arc towards the Queensland border.
