16 Day Cravens Peak Trek

Due to the extensive flooding around Bedourie, Cravens Peak Reserve and the neighbouring cattle stations, this trek has been postponed until September.

Cravens Peak Reserve is renown for its diverse landscapes. This trek will take us through a number of distinct bioregions including the striking geological features of the Toko Range. This low range system marks the north-eastern extremity of the Simpson Desert and is made up of ancient formations of metamorphic rock, granitic hills and tabular sandstone. We will be trekking through many of the unique plant communities that grow on the plains, foothills and breakaways of the Toko Range, whilst documenting the array of animals that use these interesting features as habitats. Very little survey work has been done on this part of the Simpson Desert and we are hoping to uncover many of its secrets.
