Desert Knowledge 3

An ecotone is broadly defined as the connection of two or more distinct ecosystems. In desert regions they are often important and interesting areas for animals moving through the landscape. This trek will follow and traverse the interface between the Mulligan River floodplain and the undulating dune country of the Simpson Desert. With many creek lines and gilgai to explore, we will be surveying the diverse array of plants and animals in these areas, unravelling the role they play in the desert landscape.
